Navelli - Rimini

An absolutely beautiful drive today through the alpine region from Navelli to Rimini. We travelled this route as our B&B hosts suggested we take a slightly longer route and visit Castel do Monte, a small medieval town high up towards the mountains, amazing!

The journey through the alpine pass was very similar to Molesworth Station and Estes Park, Rocky Mountains, very lush and green meadows at this time of the year and still some snow cover on the higher peaks. Again many villages up in the higher regions. We saw wild horses roaming and signs that said to be aware of the bears, deer and wolves, however we didn't spot any of these. Coming lower down the scenery changes to undulating hills until we finally came out to the coastline of the Mediteranium Sea, however, not before passing agricultural areas of, of course grapes, olive groves, market gardens and the most stunning paddocks of red poppies in full bloom for which they harvest the seeds.

We did spot a fox yesterday and apparently there are plenty around the area of Navelli where we stayed.

Link to the B&B, it was lovely and superb hospitality, if you are ever this way - stay here.
