Friday 14th February
Our last day teaching today at Lodtundah School, the
children have been a delight and we just hope that we have improved their English
skills. Barbara you will be impressed we even had ‘talking partners’, not that
they realised it.
Jim has a big day tomorrow as he is being picked up at 11.30
pm tonight to climb the highest volcano in Bali, Mount Agung. He has hired a guide, the reason you start at
that time and walk up in the night is twofold, one that it is too hot during
the day and secondly the sunrise is said to be stunning, so hopefully he will
have a great tramp. As for me, a bit beyond
my ability. It is 3142 metres high and
quite tough terrain also it is an active volcano, Jim is very excited as you
can imagine!
We are saying farewell and have already fare-welled many of
our group this week and coming weekend, and Jim and I will be the last to leave
on Monday morning to head to Nusa Penida.
We have meet so many great people who have made this part of our trip so
amazing. We have been amazed at the calibre of the young people who have
volunteered here, their maturity, compassion and general positive attitude to
life. They are from varied backgrounds
and experiences and it’s great to hear of their plans for the future. Also the Balinese locals here have been
extremely friendly and obliging, as have the Green Lion co-ordinators.
Looks like you're having a great time. ":^D If I did it right, I just subscribed to your feed so I'll be notified when you post instead of having to remember to keep checking for new posts.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to photos of the volcano and sunrise Jim. I'm sure they won't let anyone climb it if there's any danger, but we are getting some scary news items on the telly about several Indonesian volcanoes suddenly erupting and everyone having to do a runner to escape the lava and ash. So please be careful up there!
